FAQ

How is BMI calculated?
BMI is weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in metres. The formula is the same everywhere; this tool just handles the unit conversion for you.
What do the BMI categories mean?
Underweight is below 18.5, Normal is 18.5–24.9, Overweight is 25–29.9, and Obese is 30 or above.
Can I use feet, inches and pounds?
Yes. Height supports cm, metres and feet; weight supports kilograms and pounds. All conversions happen in the tool.
Is BMI a medical diagnosis?
