FAQ
Does the calculator handle leap years?
Yes. The difference is computed with calendar-aware math, so leap years like 2024 count February 29 correctly.
Is the total days the exact number of calendar days?
Yes, it is every single calendar day between the two dates, inclusive of the start date.
Can the end date be before the start date?
No, the tool shows an error if the start date is after the end date.
Why do the years, months and days not multiply back to the total days?
Calendar months have different lengths, so the breakdown is whole years first, then whole months, then leftover days — while the total is the exact day count. Both describe the same span, just sliced differently.
How are months counted?
As whole calendar months between the two dates, with any remaining days added on top.
