FAQ
Is the registration fee the same everywhere?
No. Registration fee varies by state, typically 1% to 4% of the property value. Telangana charges 0.5%, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu charge 4%, Goa charges 3%, and most others charge 1% or 2%.
What happens after registration?
The sub-registrar issues a registered sale deed, which is your legal proof of ownership. The deed must be stamped and the fee paid before the document is accepted.
Who typically pays the charges?
The buyer pays both stamp duty and registration fee in most transactions, unless the agreement says otherwise.
