FAQ
Are my inputs sent to a server?
No. Hashing runs locally in your browser with the native Web Crypto API.
Which algorithm should I use?
SHA-256 is the safe default for checksums. SHA-1 is only kept for legacy compatibility.
Which hash algorithms are supported?
SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512. SHA-256 is the most commonly used for security.
Can I hash a file?
Not directly. Paste the file contents as text. For binary files, use a dedicated file hashing tool.
