FAQ

What is BMR?
Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories your body needs to perform basic life-sustaining functions like breathing, circulation, and cell production while at complete rest.
Which equation is more accurate?
Mifflin-St Jeor is generally considered the most accurate for most people. Harris-Benedict tends to overestimate BMR by 5 to 15%.
How is BMR different from TDEE?
BMR is your calorie burn at rest. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) accounts for your activity level. Multiply BMR by an activity factor to estimate TDEE.
Why is my BMR so high/low?
BMR depends on age, gender, weight, and height. Muscle mass also affects it — more muscle means higher BMR. These equations are estimates; individual variation exists.
