FAQ
How much water should I drink a day?
A common guideline is about 33 ml per kg of body weight (roughly 2.7 L for an 80 kg person), adjusted for activity and climate. Individual needs vary with health, diet and exercise.
Does the "8 glasses a day" rule still apply?
The 8×8 rule (eight 250 ml glasses) is a simple starting point, but bigger or more active people usually need more. This calculator scales the target to your weight and lifestyle.
How does climate affect hydration?
Hot climates increase fluid loss through sweat, so the calculator adds 500 ml. Cold, dry environments also raise needs slightly (250 ml) because heating dries the air and increases insensible water loss.
Can I drink too much water?
Yes. Drinking far more than your body needs can rarely lead to hyponatremia (low blood sodium). The target here is a guideline, drink when thirsty and follow medical advice for health conditions.
